But yes..if you can't make this work as a unit...you may as well give up... To put it bluntly, as it is all in the ears of the whole band and this is not an advanced song to try and get to grips with. Which many semi pro drummers have not a hope in hell of getting to grips with in terms of feel etc etc ..

Work on the feel and try hard to get it right and you'll play it better than many other bands. Very true, easy to understand musically, but nailing the feel is not easy in this one. Have played it with many excellent pro musicians and rarely have we managed to recreate the groove of the original. If in doubt, leave it out..less is more, and just accent the chords, as many bands will over play a simple progression.

Whenever I've seen a pub band do it, 95% of the time they murder it. It's too fast, too straight, no dynamics... Thanks so much for sharing your transcriptions. I stumbled upon you at basschat, liked what I read, saw “Forget You” which I like as a song and wondered about the bass. Came here and found “Dock of the Bay” too, which though simple I wanted to learn note for note. This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.

Using Charts for Professional Work?

In measure 5 of the tag, there should be a natural sign in front of the C#. What about a “classic” like Easy To Be Hard by 3 Dog Night??? Beautiful bass line – w/o it, the song would flop.

sweet home alabama bass transcription

Wouldn't bother with listening to it, personally..it is a 3 chord groove which you should really..as a band..be able to make it worth listening to. There is a lot more to it than that, I've worked out a few of the trickier bits, but would like to play them all. These charts are a great resource for learning to sight read! Although I think that there is a mistake in “Mamma Mia”.

We do it and the timing of those critical DCG notes does make the song. IMHO the fills and extra bits should be down to you and the band... You might have guessed that I hate bands that don't put any of themselves into a song! Sorry I don't TAB and this may not make much sense to you. It's an easy song to play, but a hard song to play well - not just the bass, but the whole band too.

Many women re-purposed old clothing like never before, cutting their dresses apart to remake them into newer styles, or cutting them down to fit younger sisters and daughters. Children’s clothing was also remade from older siblings’ clothing, and Dad’s old suits were cut down to fit the older sons. The phrase “Waste Not Want Not” was joined by others, such as “Use It Up, Wear It Out, Make It Do, Or Do Without! ” And for folks who had just crawled out from under one of the most crushing economic depressions since the Civil War, it was something they were not unfamiliar with. But they were surely getting weary of having to keep on doing it!

I’m hoping when we pull up the horrid kitchen carpeting laid over another layer of pressboard in the adjoining laundry room that the old linoleum is in as good of condition. We had previously unearthed linoleum in wonderful condition in the hallway, front bedroom and bathroom. Look at all the function that is packed into this well designed and decorated space. This design — which is an extra bedroom the homeowner wanted to rent to generate extra income — made a room for rent into a one room apartment instead. Rarely is linoleum found on kitchen countertops, even in the 1940s. Yet the designer noted that linoleum here would be "clatterproof, easy to clean, and resistant to stain." Remember women’s clothes from the 1940s – their hats and tailored suits and gloves and bags and hose, the whole very put-together thing? That’s the look I think of for 1940s bedrooms and living rooms – formal, very put together. In other rooms, we also may see large prints used on wallpaper and barkcloth pinch pleats, often tropical. I see a lot of red-white-blue kitchen color combinations in the kitchens of 1940s homes. I also see richer colors – full-on primary colors and jewel tones – than in the later 1950s pastel period. I’ll attribute this to carryover 1930s preferences and to the influence of Hollywood, but there may have been other factors — there often are, often related to technological innovation.
